About Me
Hi! It's me! I am an aspiring mathematician and musician. Born in 2003, I lived in the mountains (valleys?) of Boulder, CO until I abandoned my secondary education in favor of university (via the
UW Academy, an "early-entrance" style program for 10th graders), where I majored in both pure math and CS (my preferred flavor of CS was again very pure/theoretical). I did enjoy my time there, though it was unfortunately cut short by COVID-19 (i.e. originally I planned to spend 3 years in Seattle, but due to the pandemic, I only spent one-and-an-half, with the remaining time spent Zoom-schooling back in Boulder).
Quite (or indeed very) miraculously, I was accepted by the UCLA Ph.D. program for pure math, so for the forseeable future, I will be in Los Angeles as a graduate student. You will find all my mathematical work in the
Publications tab, and my pianistic work on the
Music tab.
Back in the old days, I ran the Math Club at my high school, where I unearthed fun mathematical tidbits to lecture about, and dragged my teammates around to all the nearby math events/competitions. At university I wasn't much able to teach, being a bottom feeder and all, but at least I got to learn from people far more brilliant than myself! These days if I'm not doing math, I'm probably either being challenged mentally (both interpretations are fine, honestly), playing piano, composing (badly, but I'm trying!), or curating my collection of memes. I do enjoy tennis, but I don't get much opportunities to play nowadays (saddening indeed). I've played piano since I was four, and all but my first year, I've been performing (though not in any formal setting). In 2018, I played the piano for my highschool's production of the Broadway musical "Next to Normal", which was, I must say, a tremendously scarring and simultaneously profound experience. All in all, my talents and aspirations lie in places that will most likely lead me to homelessness within several years -- I mean, as the adage goes, "the difference between a Ph.D. in math and a large pizza is that a large pizza can feed a family" (and I'm sure worse has been said about piano). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
